2027 Honda Passport Trims Explained for the Texas Crossroads Drivers: RT-L, TrailSport and Elite
The 2027 Honda Passport comes in three trims: RT-L ($45,195), TrailSport ($49,995) and TrailSport Elite ($53,695). Two factory versions round out the lineup: the RT-L Towing adds a Class III hitch for +$700, and a Blackout package on the TrailSport and TrailSport Elite adds +$1,500. Every Passport shares a 280-hp 3.5-liter V6, 10-speed automatic, i-VTM4 all-wheel drive, a 5,000-lb tow rating and the full Honda Sensing suite. Stepping up to the TrailSport ($4,800 more) buys real trail hardware: 9.6 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, skid plates, recovery hooks, TrailWatch cameras and a factory hitch. The TrailSport Elite ($3,700 more) adds comfort: perforated leather, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a 12-speaker Bose system and a hands-free liftgate.
In Victoria, the Passport trim question is about heat, caliche and the boat. Every Passport tows up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped. The TrailSport adds a hitch, all-terrain tires and skid plates for lease roads, and the Elite adds ventilated seats.

Which Passport Trim Has the Feature You Want?
Tap what you care about. The answer shows the first trim with it and what it costs over the RT-L.
The Trade-Offs of Moving Up a Trim
Most dealers only tell you what you gain. Here's what you lose.
Moving from RT-L to TrailSport
- Real leather. The TrailSport uses HondaTex synthetic leather and cloth; the RT-L has leather-trimmed seats.
- Interior color choice. The RT-L offers black or gray; the TrailSport is black only.
- Fuel economy: 19/25/21 mpg becomes 18/22/20, a 3-mpg drop on the highway.
- Headroom: front drops from 40.5 to 39.1 in. and rear from 40.7 to 39.6 in., and passenger volume from 119.1 to 115.4 cu ft.
- Departure angle: 27.1° on the RT-L versus 25.3° on the TrailSport, which trades some departure angle for its 25.4° approach angle and 9.6 in. of clearance.
- Low-profile height: the TrailSport stands 74.5 in. tall versus 73.1 in., worth checking if you add a roof box.
- Tire speed rating: the all-terrains are T-rated (113T) versus the RT-L's H-rated all-seasons (110H).
- Curb weight rises 198 lbs, from 4,478 to 4,676.
Moving from TrailSport to Elite
- Orange ambient lighting gives way to white, though the steering wheel keeps orange stitching.
- The matte Shark Gray wheels are replaced by Berlina Black machine-face alloys.
- Curb weight rises 29 lbs to 4,705. Nothing functional goes away.
Adding Blackout
- The standard wheel finish. Blackout wheels are black alloys on both TrailSport trims.
- $1,500, for appearance only. Capability and features don't change.
How Much Each Passport Step Costs
From RT-L to TrailSport Elite Blackout is $10,000. The biggest single jump, $4,100, is RT-L Towing to TrailSport, where the off-road hardware arrives.

The Five Passport Matchups Shoppers Ask About
RT-L vs. RT-L Towing
$700 buys the factory Class III hitch with harness and hitch panel. Both are rated for 5,000 lbs, but the rating assumes proper hitch equipment. Towing requires hitch equipment, and the Towing version has it from the factory. If you'll ever pull a trailer to Lake Texana and Matagorda Bay or a campground, it's the simpler route.
RT-L Towing vs. TrailSport
$4,100 apart, and both have a factory hitch. The TrailSport adds clearance, all-terrain tires, skid plates and TrailWatch, plus a moonroof, heated wheel and 115-volt outlets. The RT-L Towing keeps leather, the gray interior option and better highway mileage.
TrailSport vs. TrailSport Elite
This $3,700 step buys comfort only: perforated leather, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, Bose audio, a hands-free liftgate and rain-sensing wipers. Both have the same off-road hardware. If you spend hot afternoons in the car, the ventilated seats are the deciding feature.
TrailSport Blackout vs. TrailSport Elite
Only $2,200 apart, these are a style-versus-comfort decision. The Blackout gets the darker look; the Elite gets the comfort upgrades but keeps standard trim. You can have both in the Elite Blackout.
TrailSport Elite vs. Elite Blackout
$1,500 buys black wheels, black badges and black skid garnishes. Everything else is identical.
2027 Passport Changes
A taller TrailSport
TrailSport trims ride on a reengineered suspension with 9.6 in. of clearance (the RT-L has 8.3 in.) and improved approach, breakover and departure angles over the 2026 TrailSport.
New TrailSport look
More pronounced fender flares, a darker resculpted lower front fascia, a reshaped front skid plate and amber LED hood lights.
Elite features move down
The TrailSport now includes TrailWatch and a heated steering wheel, both previously reserved for the TrailSport Elite.
Blackout gets darker
The Blackout package adds black front and rear fascias to its black wheels and badges.
New paint
Smoke Blue Pearl replaces Obsidian Blue Pearl across the lineup.
Pricing
MSRP rises $245 on the RT-L, $1,345 on the TrailSport and $1,045 on the TrailSport Elite.
Standard on Every 2027 Passport
Even the $45,195 RT-L gets the full powertrain, the complete Honda Sensing suite and the same tech package as the TrailSport Elite.

What to Check on a Victoria Passport Test Drive
A test drive tells you more than any feature list, if you know what to look for.
- Merge onto US-59 or US-77 and feel how the V6 and 10-speed pull. Set adaptive cruise and let it follow traffic.
- Have us show you TrailWatch and the Multi-View cameras in the lot; they're most useful at tight trailheads and steep driveways.
- Ride in the back of both trims. The TrailSport's moonroof trims rear headroom from 40.7 to 39.6 in.
- If you can, take both trims toward the coastal roads to Port O'Connor. Listen for the difference between the RT-L's all-season tires and the TrailSport's all-terrains.
- Fold the rear seat and load what you really carry. There's 44 cu ft behind the second row.
- Measure your garage door if you plan on a roof box. The TrailSport stands 74.5 in. tall before you add anything up top.
- On a hot day, try the TrailSport Elite's ventilated seats against the TrailSport's HondaTex. It's the clearest way to judge that $3,700 step.
- Towing? Bring your trailer's plug type. The TrailSport hitch has a 7-pin connector; check whether you'll need an adapter.
- Pair your phone and sign into Google built-in before you leave the lot so you're testing your own maps and music.
2027 Passport Size: Will It Fit Your Life?
At 191.5 inches long the Passport fits a standard the Texas Crossroads garage or driveway, and the TrailSport's 74.5-inch height still clears a 7-foot garage door. Add a roof box or bike rack and you'll want to measure first.

Which Passport trim should I get for driving around the Texas Crossroads?
For paved drives like the coastal roads to Port O'Connor, any Passport works, and the RT-L's all-season tires and mileage suit them. For caliche ranch and lease roads, the TrailSport's clearance, all-terrain tires and skid plates are worth it.
